HME/RT Council (Home Medical Equipment/Respiratory Therapy Council)

The HME/RT Council actively works on issues of importance to the general HME and respiratory space as well as industry-wide priorities.  Through a combined focus on advocacy initiatives (legislative and regulatory) and operational practices, Council members are able to advance respiratory and general HME priorities that directly impact their daily activities and long-term strategic planning.

Through council-wide discussions and targeted Work Group activities, the Council tackles an impressive workload of Council goals each year while advising the Board of Directors, other AAHomecare Councils, and vested stakeholders on priority needs.

Recent areas of focus include:

  • Competitive Bidding and non-bid relief
  • Addressing PAP prescription challenges
  • Home Mechanical Ventilation
  • And More!

All AAHomecare members are welcome to join the HME/RT Council, which is comprised of a diverse makeup of members spanning the entire country of various sizes, including suppliers, manufacturers, and service support companies.  Leading the Council are:
•    Chair: Barb Stockert, PAMES & Big Sky AMES, Jamestown, ND
•    Vice Chair: Roxanne Venard, RRT, Ascent Respiratory Care, Greenwood Village, CO

The council meets 5-6 times/year via zoom and in person at major industry events like Medtrade.  Any AAHomecare member who is interested in becoming a member of the HME/RT Council should contact Ashley Plauché, AAHomecare’s Assistant Director of Member & Public Relations, for more information.

Additional information on these issues can be found among Sleep Policy resources in AAHomecare’s Advocacy section.
