State Leaders Council

The State Leaders Council is a collective effort of AAHomecare, state/regional HME associations, and other key member stakeholders in the legislative and regulatory process who meet biweekly by phone and at in-person events like Medtrade to share the latest advocacy developments, coordinate effective grassroots outreach, and share state-specific developments that could impact others.  State Leaders work closely with Industry leadership to advance national priorities and advises the Board of Directors on priority needs from a grassroots level.

Among the many coordinated efforts of the State Leaders Council is the Grassroots Accountability Project, by which HME advocates from across the industry spectrum volunteer to be the primary contact for a particular federal legislator.  The goal is to ensure all 535 federal offices receive consistent communication from the HME Industry to educate and activate on priority issues.

Unlike other councils’ structure at AAHomecare, the State Leaders Council is comprised of delegates selected by the participating state/regional association.  Leading the Council are:

  • Chair: Rose Schafhauser, Executive Director of Midwest Association for Medical Equipment Services & Supplies
  • Vice Chair: John Quinlan, Quinlan's Pharmacy & Medical Equipment
  • AAHomecare Staff: Ashley Plauché, Director of Member & Public Relations

AAHomecare strongly encourages those in the industry to become active members of both AAHomecare as the national association and their respective state/regional association.  Together, we will make a difference for suppliers, manufacturers, and service support companies as well as the people we serve.
